I moved to Truro 4 years ago to start my teaching career and currently teach music at Redcliff Middle School.
In my free time I love listening to Broadway cast albums, reading YA books, making diamond arts, and making music through choirs, handbells, and more.
I really enjoy taking in information and sharing it in creative ways and with the awesome work that the STEPs on Arthur Foundation does, it was an easy ask to jump on board.
Lia Alkema
I am a mom of one of the participants at STEPs on Arthur.
In my free time I participate in a variety of activities from pickle ball to walking. I love to spend time with my grandchildren and to plan adventures to spend time with my family.
I volunteer with STEPs on Arthur Foundation as a way of giving back to a place that has been so beneficial for our daughter Patricia.
Hattie Mae Dyck
I am a retired journalist and former Bureau Chief for the Halifax Herald Ltd. office in Dartmouth and Truro. I am also a widowed mother of nine children.
In my free time I like to go bowling, dance, shop and enjoy the company of others.
I really believe in the work the Foundation is doing and so I thoroughly support it and enjoy doing so. It works in two ways for me because I am doing something I truly believe in and it gets me out of the house with people I enjoy. I need to tell you I am 91 years old and no longer drive my car. However, I try not to let that stop me from being a useful volunteer.
Faye Kennedy
I am an early retired from a federal government job and I am a mom of a of STEPs on Arthur participant.
I participate in church choir, bible study and meditation. I enjoy reading, going for quiet walks, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
As a family we feel that STEPs on Arthur is magical. We were able to see our daughter grow from an extremely shy person to a vibrant human being. I enjoy volunteering with the Foundation and in the New To You Store because I am able to interact with other participants in a very happy place.
