Our Past Projects

STEPs on Arthur Foundation is vital to ensuring the growth and expansion of STEPs on Arthur.

Capital projects use donated funds to invest in long-term assets to benefit STEPs on Arthur over multiple years. These are significant projects with lasting impact. They may fall under many categories, including property, equipment, infrastructure, and technology. These investments are aimed at expanding and enhancing STEPs on Arthur’s capacity and effectiveness. Your donation will always be used to fund projects that align with STEPs on Arthur’s mission and provide sustainable benefits.

When you donate to STEPs on Arthur Foundation, you are supporting essential development projects like these.

Valero Property Green Space

This project consisted of the development of a small parcel of land adjacent to Delaney House, the land having been kindly donated by Valero Energy Inc. This property sat vacant for many years and on occasion was used for parking among other things. The space was transformed in mid-2023 into a combination paved parking area for staff, customers, and participant residents of the 6 apartments in Delaney House and a green space for STEPs participants to socialize and enjoy the outdoors. The lot is an easily accessible route for participants and customers of STEPs’ Tim Horton’s New To You store at Delaney House who may have mobility challenges.

Rotary House New Roof

Rotary House was built 18 years ago. Given the building’s age and the damaging affects of strong tropical storms, particularly to the roof of the building, in the past few years, the roof urgently required replacement in 2023. Rotary House holds 5 of the vocational programs provided by STEPs as well as its corporate offices. The roof replacement is now complete with the costs covered by a partial grant and remaining funds received from donations through the Foundation.

Harmony Room Sensory Room

This project is the creation of a Sensory Room (called the “Harmony Room”), which is a therapeutic environment created for the express purpose of providing a safe and much-needed space for participants of STEPs and individuals in our community experiencing sensory disorder symptoms. The Harmony Room is utilized between 9:00am- 3:30pm (Monday to Friday) to address the direct needs of STEPs’ participants and is available for community bookings during evenings and weekend hours. The Harmony Room was completed in late 2023 thanks to a grant received covering a portion of the costs and further funding received through the Foundation from donations received.

Delaney House

As STEPs on Arthur continued to expand its programs and clientele, the need for more space became evident. In 2019, the Foundation started a capital campaign with the goal to raise close to $5 million to restore an adjacent building.

Renovations commenced in 2020. Many delays were experienced during the 2 years of construction due to ramifications from the COVID pandemic. The grand opening of the new building, Delaney House, occurred in August 2022.

Rotary House

In 2004, the Foundation’s fundraising efforts reached their goal of raising $2 million and providing STEPs on Arthur with a building that would be able to accommodate its operational needs.

The construction of the new building occurred through the summer and fall of 2004. In January 2005, STEPs on Arthur officially opened the doors of Rotary House for staff and clients.
